Conductive adhesive, referred to as conductive adhesive, is an adhesive that can effectively bond various materials and has conductive properties. Conductive adhesives include two categories, isotropic homogeneous conductive adhesives (1CA) and anisotropic conductive adhesives (ACA). ICA refers to an adhesive that conducts electricity in all directions; ACA is different. For example, Z-axis ACA refers to an adhesive that conducts electricity in the Z direction, but does not conduct electricity in the X and Y directions. The current research mainly focuses on ICA.

Conductive adhesives can be divided into two categories: structural type and filling type according to the composition of the matrix. The structural type refers to the conductive glue that is conductive as the polymer material itself as the conductive glue matrix; the filled type refers to the conductive glue that usually uses the adhesive as the matrix and relies on the addition of conductive fillers to make the glue have a conductive effect. At present, the preparation of conductive polymer materials is very complicated, and there is still a large distance from practical applications, so filled conductive adhesives are widely used.

The conductive filler added to the filled conductive adhesive is usually metal powder. Due to the different types, particle sizes, structures, and dosages of the metal powders used, and the types of adhesive bases used, the types and properties of conductive adhesives are also very different. Currently, silver powder-filled conductive adhesives are commonly used. And in some occasions that do not require very high electrical conductivity, copper powder-filled conductive adhesives are also used.

At present, the filled conductive adhesives on the market mainly include the following types in terms of their matrix: Epoxy-the matrix material is epoxy resin, and the filled conductive metal particles are mainly Ag, Ni, Cu (Ag plating); Silicones-the base material is silicone, and the filled conductive metal particles are mainly Ag and Cu (Ag plated); the polymer type-the base material is polymer, and the filled conductive metal particles are mainly Ag.
